Purple conducted nationwide research for the first time in Nepal to assess the degree and extent of online and offline gendered violence against politically active women and gender and sexual minorities, and the effects of the violence on their political participation and representation. The research was done with the technical and financial support of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Nepal, and USAID. Research shows that a total of 66% of women and gender and sexual minorities in politics are facing one or other kind of gendered violence in their political life. The research had a parallel advocacy component against gendered violence in politics. Purple conducted a total of ten national and regional workshops with government officials, political leaders, civil society members, media, and rights activists. More than 600 participants attended the workshops around Nepal.
